HEIDELBERG’S MOST
MODERN DISTRICT

Bahnstadt
Heidelberg

The Bahnstadt is Heidelberg's most modern district and currently contains the largest campus for research and laboratory facilities in Europe. You will not only find excellent working spaces here, but also living spaces, schools, kindergartens, daycare centers, numerous educational, cultural and leisure facilities, an historic old town, local shops in the immediate vicinity, high-quality retail and spacious public areas that invite you to stay.
Living and working go hand in hand here. The new "science quarter" is characterized by short commutes and well-thought-out infrastructure. Just under a kilometer away is Neuenheimer Feld, which contains the natural science faculties of Heidelberg University, the University Hospital and research facilities such as the DKFZ.

HISTORY

Heidelberg-
Max-Jarecki-Story

The Jarecki family and the city of Heidelberg have a history that goes back more than 100 years. Max Jarecki studied medicine at the Rupert Karl University of Heidelberg in 1914. His son, Dr. Henry G. Jarecki, was born in 1933 in Stettin. In 1938, he had to flee with his family from the National Socialists to the USA. In the 1950s, Henry followed in his father's footsteps and answered the call of Heidelberg, moving there to study medicine. With the Max-Jarecki-Foundation, named in honor of his father, Henry promotes science in his former city of study and center of life.

“We must move forward steadily and with confidence. Heidelberg is the best example of this. That is why Heidelberg is such a special and future-oriented place.“

Dr. Henry G. Jarecki

INNOVATIVE AND INTERNATIONAL

The Medical and Research Factor

Heidelberg is one of the world's leading locations for the future-oriented sectors of life sciences, biotechnology, information technology, and energy and environmental sciences. Renowned research institutions such as the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and four Max Planck Institutes contribute to Heidelberg's reputation as a center for research and progress. The university's medical faculty as well as its affiliated clinics are among the best in the world. The successful interweaving of tradition and innovation, science and business, makes Heidelberg a dynamic and forward-looking city that offers its residents a high quality of life. In the Bahnstadt, this reality is reflected better than anywhere else.
